Structural engineering is the branch of civil engineering that deals with the planning and construction of buildings, most of which are above ground level. The structural engineering office of the Konz municipal administration is responsible for the management and maintenance of municipal properties as well as the planning and implementation of construction projects, and works closely with executing construction companies as well as architects and engineering offices.
The Konzer Building Department is also responsible for land use planning - a set of instruments for designing land use in the associated community. It therefore has the task of preparing and managing the structural and other use of land in a municipality. It finds its legal basis in the Building Code. A distinction is made between two plans:
- the preparatory land use plan (land use plan) and
- the binding land use plan (development plan).
