Federal funding: National climate protection initiative

With the National Climate Protection Initiative Since 2008, the federal government has initiated and supported numerous projects that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Its programs and projects cover a wide range of climate protection activities: from the development of long-term strategies to concrete assistance and investment support measures. This diversity is a guarantee for good ideas. The National Climate Protection Initiative helps to anchor climate protection locally. Consumers benefit from this, as do companies, municipalities and educational institutions.

CURRENT CLIMATE PROTECTION PROJECTS

The following projects are supported in the Konz municipality:

Replacement of the well pumps in the Wasserliesch well, Albachtal

goal and content	Replacing the well pumps of wells III, IV and V. results in an energy saving potential of 21%. In total, around 116,000 kWh of electricity can be saved here per year. This means a reduction in CO2 emissions of around 47 t/a.

Construction of a drinking water supply line from ZHB Wasserliesch to Oberbillig

goal and content	By renewing the supply line to a larger size, the pump performance in the Oberbillig pumping station can be reduced and the pressure booster system can be eliminated. This reduces electricity consumption by approximately 58,000 kWh/year (= 53%). This means a reduction in CO² emissions by 24t/year.

Renewal of the pumps and motors in the inflow pumping station of the Konz-Saarmündung sewage treatment plant

goal and content	By replacing the pumps and motors and switching to regular operation of the renovated screw lines, electricity consumption can be reduced by approximately 84,640 kWh/a (= 49%) after the measure has been implemented.

goal and content	By replacing the existing pumps, air tanks/pressure vessels and pipes, there is an energy saving potential of 30%. Around 3,900 kWh can be saved per year. This means a reduction in CO2 emissions of around 1.6 t/a.

goal and content	Replacement of the pump system and integration into the existing MSR. Omission of the existing pressure boosting system. In concrete terms, this results in a savings potential of around 30% for the supply of the local municipality of Wellen-Hasseln. In total, 10,000.00 kWh can be saved here per year. This means a reduction in CO2 emissions of around 6 t/a.
