"Stein at the confluence of the Saar and the Moselle"
by Christopher Manke
The artist about his work: An estuary is a special place. |
The end: Stones by the River by Dr. Baerbel Schulte
A little further, at the confluence of the Moselle and Saar, Christopher Manke created a place of rest and meditation. The motif of the estuary is taken up here in the form of the stone, while at the same time the basic geometric shape of the triangle is one of the oldest symbols of mankind. Many places of worship have this form, which is considered a synonym for calm, firmness and concentration. In Christian iconography, the triangle is not only a symbol for the Trinity, but also for the work of the Holy Spirit, so it is almost predestined for a place of meditation. The visitor is invited to take a seat in the stone, shielded from external influences, and to get involved with this special intersection in the great water cycle.
