Excursion to the EU Commission in Brussels
On September 13, 2022, the "Lifelong Learning Action Group, Actively Passing On Knowledge" undertook an educational trip to the European Commission in Brussels in cooperation with the "Partnership for Democracy in the VG Konz".
In the impressive premises of the Berlaymont building, the participants received an exciting and highly interesting lecture by Dr. Manfred Kraff, General Director, an insight into the working methods and the tasks of the EU Commission. Dr. In his presentation, Kraff also went into the origins of the European Union as a peace project and made it clear that future tasks and challenges can only be solved together. Despite all the differences between the member states, "united in diversity." In the discussion that followed, the participants asked questions on current topics and were thus able to expand their knowledge of the political institutions at European level.
After the lunch break in the picturesque old town of Brussels, the participants learned exciting details about the history of the metropolis and its development into the European capital during the three-hour city tour "Brussels Kaleidoscope".
