Municipal Gallery for Digital Painting

The municipal gallery for digital painting in Konz is a cultural institution dedicated to the presentation and promotion of digital painting. This innovative art form, which is often little known, uses modern digital tools and graphics tablets to create works of art instead of traditional materials such as canvas and brushes.

In June 2024, the gallery opened its doors in the rooms of the Konz City Library, Konstantinstraße 50, with the first exhibition of the local digital painter Peter Becker under the title "On the Moselle and Saar". Around 65 of his works were shown on a monitor specially developed for art. In addition, several prints offered an insight into the diverse printing options available for works of art that are available as digital files.

Currently on display are works by Walter Baumeister from Trier. With his digitally painted images, Baumeister demonstrates the possibilities offered by the digital toolbox on a large screen, demonstrating all traditional techniques with a digital brush. Baumeister draws and paints on the PC – using a pen and Wacom tablet.

The exhibition can inspire everyone to take the step into the digital age, even in the creative field, or to enjoy the wonderful motifs in the exhibition's pictures.
