Election of the mayor of the municipality and city of Konz?

The Konz municipal council will decide this week on the date for the mayoral election. The proposed date is September 14, 2025, with a possible runoff election of September 28, 2025.

A new honorary mayor may also be elected at these meetings. A statement from the incumbent mayor of the city and municipality of Konz, Joachim Weber, commented:

Ladies and Gentlemen

Unfortunately, I must inform you that, for health reasons, I intend not to run for the office of mayor of the Konz municipal association in the next election in September 2025. Furthermore, I intend to resign from my position as honorary mayor at a time that allows for the election of a new mayor on the same day as the mayoral election. I am currently in coordination talks with the Trier-Saarburg district administration regarding this matter.

This decision is not easy for me, but my health situation forces me to take this step.
