Series of events on climate protection, including in Konz
How can I save energy and money at the same time? What funding options are available for climate-friendly living? And how can I make my everyday life more sustainable without sacrificing comfort? The Trier-Saarburg district and its six municipalities will answer these and many other questions in 2025 in the "Energy and Climate Talks" series of events. The district administration will kick off the series with an event in Trier on April 7. On April 15, the focus will be on climate-friendly gardens in Saarburg.
In the municipality of Konz, citizens are invited to this event:
Green Future: Heating network construction for the city of Konz
May 12, 2025, 5:00 PM | Könen Community Center, Charnystraße, Konz-Könen
Municipalities face a number of challenges in the context of the energy transition. Decarbonizing the heating market, in particular, is a major task. In order to actively shape the heating transition, achieve climate protection goals, and simultaneously maintain the attractiveness of the city of Konz as a business location, the Verbandsgemeindewerke Konz AöR (Konz Municipal Utilities Association) has conducted a feasibility study on the utilization of heat potential from river water as part of the federal funding for efficient heating networks. The goal is to be able to supply various districts (industrial and commercial, residential, and mixed-use districts) with affordable, CO2-neutral heat. The majority of source heat will be extracted from the Saar River and supplemented by heat potential at the Saarmündung sewage treatment plant. The findings and results of the study, as well as the current project status, will be presented in a short presentation by the Verbandsgemeindewerke Konz.
