Information evening on wind power in the Konz municipality
To achieve climate goals, it will be necessary to further expand a wide variety of renewable energy sources. Wind power is also one of the building blocks of the energy transition. Therefore, many project developers are currently active in the Upper Moselle region. They want to secure land early on in order to potentially build wind turbines at a later date.
Until now, the construction of wind turbines on these sites has not been legally permitted. Wind turbines may only be built in areas approved for this purpose. Currently, only areas in Pellingen, Oberemmel, and Wiltingen are permitted for wind power. planned, with a large part already developed.
Why is it advisable not to lease or sell land to project developers at this time? What is the legal framework for potential further expansion? And how can the construction of wind turbines be controlled and planned by municipalities?
The Konz municipal administration wants to provide information on this and is therefore inviting Monday, April 14, 2025 at 5 p.m. the residents of Tawern, Temmels, Fellerich and Oberbillig to the Tawern Community Center. On Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 5 p.m. There will be a second event in the Nittel Community Center for the residents of Nittel, Onsdorf and Wellen.
The municipal administration will explain what steps would be necessary, including those taken by the municipal council and at the local community level, to realize additional sites. It is particularly important that not only the interests of private companies are taken into account, but also the overall landscape and area development, as well as the benefits for residents and local communities.
