Konz, January 9, 2025

Hermann Hurth continues to work for a better quality of life for older people in the Konz municipality. After 14 years of successful work as senior citizen representative, he has now been awarded a certificate of appointment for a further five years. Mayor Joachim Weber and full-time councilor Guido Wacht congratulated Hurth at a ceremony in Konz town hall.

The senior citizen representative is a central interface between senior citizens and the administration. He is also the contact person for a wide range of issues, e.g. support and help in everyday life. The aim is to enable older people to participate actively and independently in social life for as long as possible.

Mayor Weber thanked Hurth for his voluntary work. "Our senior citizens receive a lot of support and recognition thanks to his commitment." Mayor Weber also highlighted various initiatives that Hurth had launched in recent years. A smartphone course was particularly successful, in which students from the Realschule plus showed the senior citizens how to use smartphones safely and how to use all of their functions. "The courses not only helped the participants to improve their use of modern technology; they also connected generations with one another. I find that particularly valuable," said Weber.

Hurth emphasized: "For me, this work is not just a task, but a matter close to my heart. It is important to me to maintain direct contact with the older generation and to represent their concerns in the best possible way," said Hurth at the ceremony in Konz Town Hall. "I am always happy to answer any questions." (Tel.: 0170 278 2677 or email: seniorenbeauftragter@konz.de)
