Important step for bridge project in Nittel and Wormeldingen
The feasibility study for the "Brückenschlag DeLux" is being funded 80% by the European Union. This was announced by the regional management of the "Upper Moselle Valley Development Concept".
About the project: The local community of Nittel and the community of Wormeldange are planning a pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the Moselle near Machtum. Among other things, it would promote cross-border thinking, improve the quality of life in neighboring communities and contribute to sustainable tourism.
The mayor of the Konz district, Joachim Weber, is pleased with the news: "A pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the Moselle would be a unique selling point that would benefit citizens and tourists alike. This could, for example, connect local public transport on both sides."
Peter Leo Hein, the mayor of the local community of Nittel, adds: "With the bridge, we would grow even closer together with Machtum and Wormeldingen. I am pleased that the project is being given a chance."
After the evaluation, the results of the feasibility study will be presented and discussed across borders to the public and politicians.
