Kick-off for the reading and reading aloud summer 2024

Even before it started, many children and young people were waiting in front of the doors of the Konz City Library. At 3 p.m. sharp on Monday, July 1, 2024, Mayor Joachim Weber gave the starting signal for the 2024 Reading and Reading Aloud Summer. He welcomed those present and thanked the sponsors for their financial support as well as the city library team for organizing the very popular event.

Until September 1, 2024, all participants between the ages of six and 16 can become "reading monsters" during the reading summer. Anyone who has borrowed and read at least three books will receive a certificate, an entry on their next report card and a great prize after the holidays. In addition, the children and young people can also fill out an evaluation card for each book they read and then hand it in to the library. Each card will then be entered into the large nationwide raffle, where there are many other great prizes to be won.

The summer of reading aloud works in a similar way: Anyone who has three books read to them and hands in a picture they have drawn to the library will receive a certificate and a voucher for an ice cream. In addition, other nice prizes can be won in the nationwide raffle.

Sponsors for the campaign in the Konz City Library are: the Elenz company, the Lions Club Saarburg, the Reh Foundation, the Sparkasse and Volksbank Trier as well as the “Future in Trier-Saarburg” foundation. With their financial support, around 1,300 books were purchased for the reading summer.

Closed on Mondays

Tuesday: 3pm - 7pm

Wednesday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Thursday: 3 – 6 p.m.

Friday: 10am – 12pm and 3pm – 6pm

1st Saturday of the month: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
