City of Konz celebrates anniversary with twin towns
The city of Konz celebrated the anniversaries with its twin towns with a celebratory council meeting. Konz has been friends with Brienon in France for almost 60 years; the twin town relationship with Puck in Poland began more than 20 years ago.
Due to numerous events in recent years, it was unfortunately not possible to celebrate the anniversaries as they deserve. The city wanted to make up for this and invited people to visit.
Representatives from Charny, the French partner municipality of the Könen district, and the regional network "GEPACO" also came to the celebratory council meeting. The mayors present signed the Golden Book of the city of Konz, exchanged gifts and emphasized how important the partnerships are: They are supported by the spirit of cosmopolitanism and the European idea.
The visit of the delegations from Brienon and Puck went beyond the ceremonial council meeting. During these days, numerous discussions took place to exchange ideas on a wide range of topics, such as schools, senior citizens, sports, culture and tourism.
The focus of the partnership meeting was to intensify the partnerships once again. They thrive on encounters, getting to know each other's everyday lives and the network of personal contacts. Therefore, visits to clubs such as the TG Konz, the St. Johann primary school and the Konz city library were on the agenda.
