New hiking trail with many experiences: the Konzer Höhenrunde
05 July 2024
Fancy a hike? Then head to the Roscheider Hof open-air museum! A brand new premium hiking trail begins there, which can now be used.
The “Konzer Höhenrunde” is a so-called side trip and partner trail of the Moselsteig. It runs for a total of 7.3 kilometers and takes you through a variety of routes along the Wurzelweg, through the Konzer Bachtal, the vineyards of Niedermennig, through forests, open meadows and over the Roscheid Plateau.
When it comes to premium hiking trails, quality is more important than quantity. At three points, the Konzer Höhenrunde surprises with special "eye-catchers" that are installed along the path and increase the experience value. Above the Falkensteiner Hof, between the forest and the vineyards, there is an oversized bench where you can sit down and enjoy the view of the Konzer Tälchen.

Two other "eye-catchers" that also invite you to stop and take photos with unusual motifs are located on the Roscheid Plateau. A large landscape frame directs the view towards Wasserliesch, the mouth of the Saar and Trier. And in a sky swing you can relax wonderfully and look out into the Konzer Tälchen and over Roscheid. The panorama board next to it explains which places can be seen.
You should plan around two hours for the hike. Since the trail is not too long, it is also ideal for a family hike. The tour can also be easily combined with a visit to the Roscheider Hof.
Saar-Obermosel-Touristik offers detailed information via a flyer and on the homepage at www.saar-obermosel.de/wandern The exact route can be seen there, and you can also download the GPS data onto your mobile phone and use it to navigate.
The final work on the Konzer Höhenrunde will be carried out in the coming weeks. The official opening of the trail and hike is planned for the autumn.

The new premium hiking trail was implemented by Saar-Obermosel-Touristik, the Konz city building yard, the municipal administration and the chairman of the Konz hiking club, Thomas Fickinger, also supported the planning. The project received LEADER funding of around 9,400 euros with total costs of around 18,000 euros.
The giant bench and landscape frame were created by the path warden of Saar-Obermosel-Touristik, Frank Scheuer. The sky swing comes from the company for job-related qualification and labor market promotion "Komm-Aktiv" from Mayen.
In recent years, Saar-Obermosel-Touristik has planned and implemented several premium hiking trails together with the respective local communities and with the support of hiking enthusiasts. These include the first four stages of the Moselsteig, six Moselsteig side trips and three dream loops.
