New school forest for schools in Wiltingen and Konz-Oberemmel
The Konzer-Doktor Community Foundation today officially opened a new school forest between Konz-Oberemmel and Wiltingen. The location means that three schools can use it. Together with the school communities of Oberemmel Primary School, Wiltingen Primary School and Don Bosco School, the foundation unveiled the school forest sign. In the future, children will be able to romp around in the area and experience nature. This way, they will also be able to recognize connections in the ecosystem as part of environmental education.
The city of Konz provided the area for the project and initiated tree inspections and traffic safety measures. The councilor of the VG, Guido Wacht, also came to the small ceremony as a representative of the collective municipality, which runs the primary schools. On behalf of the collective municipality, the city of Konz and the local communities, he thanked the Konzer-Doktor Citizens' Foundation for its commitment. "They are out there with creative minds and always have lots of great ideas for the schools that go beyond the educational mandate." Local mayor Reinhard Orth talked about how important he himself found experiencing the forest as a child and that is exactly what is now offered in the project.
Last year, the Konzer-Doktor Citizens' Foundation opened a school forest. It is located in Wasserliesch.
