Konz: Clearing work for planning slope stabilization
October 8, 2024
In order to secure the embankment in the area above Konz train station in the long term, the city took initial measures last year. At that time, a specialist company carried out extensive reinforcement measures on the “Am Hang” road, i.e. earth-concrete support discs were installed to stabilize the embankment.
Measures are now also to be taken further along the slope. The "Schwester-Marcellina-Weg" is frequently used by pedestrians; therefore, subsidence in this area is also to be prevented.
In preparation, clearing work is necessary, which is expected to be carried out in the coming weeks. Only after the green vegetation has been removed can it be estimated which specific measures can be used to effectively secure the embankment area.
In view of the possibility of a new parking area at the train station, further slope stabilization is also necessary. There are plans to expand the parking lot on Güterstrasse in the medium term. However, this will only be possible once the current construction work has been completed and the construction warehouse on Güterstrasse can be dismantled.
