Konz Music Festival: 30 years of the Master Academy

The Konz Music Festival is entering the next round. The city of Konz and the association “Vogel als Prophet” present from 29 August to 8 September 2024 Once again varied sounds from outstanding musicians in special locations – under the musical direction of Niall Brown, deputy principal cellist of the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra.

There is also a big anniversary coming up this year, as the “Master Academy” is celebrating its 30th birthday. Paul Trein started the tradition in 1994. Young talents from all over the world have the opportunity to refine their skills in Konz under the guidance of top international musicians. The festival was redesigned after the death of the founder in 2019. However, it was important to the organizers that the core idea was preserved. And so this year, young international musicians will once again come together for the “Master Academy” and impressively demonstrate their skills in several public concerts. They will be accommodated with host families during their stay, which will promote cultural and international understanding. In addition, the St. Johann primary school and the high school will be involved in the academy and the concert events.

Opened The Konz Music Festival 2024 will take place on Thursday, August 29, 2024, 7:30 p.m. in the town church of St. Nicholas in Konz : Experience the professors of the Academy Isabelle Trüb (piano), Elisabeth Perry (violin), Richard Wolfe (viola) and the Head of the Academy Niall Brown (cello) with works by Joseph Haydn, Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms. The concert will be recorded by the radio station SWR Kultur.

The event continues on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at 7:30 p.m., also in the St. Nicholas Church. As former artistic director of the Konz Music Festival, Pianist Joseph Moog still very connected to the festival. His joint concert with Soprano Lucy Farrimond , " ROMANTIC SONGS“, promises to be a musical highlight.

" CLASSICS VS. MODERNITY” is the motto on Sunday, September 1, 2024, 7 p.m. in Haus Beda in Bitburg, a Concert as part of the local music festival. Irida Trio - consisting of Johanna Hempen (violin), Oliver Léonard (violoncello) and Alexander Baier (piano) - it is important to combine contemporary repertoire with works of tradition and thus to renew the view of the old through the experience of the present.

On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 7:30 p.m., the outstanding winners of the 2022 ARD Music Competition, the Barbican Quartet, will be performing at the Konz Music Festival in the Stadtkirche St. Nikolaus. Four international musicians, four unique personalities, a string quartet – and a concert you shouldn’t miss.

A conscious blend of classical and popular music is available at Wednesday, 4 September 2024, at 7 p.m. at the Margarethenhof winery in Ayl: " SPOTLIGHT YOUNG MUSICIANS” will The very best chamber music from the string players of the Master Academy contrasted by the talented musicians of the big band of the Gymnasium Konz under the direction of Till Krüger.

On Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 7.30 p.m. is it [called " VIBRATING STRINGS” at the Cantzheim winery in Kanzem. The string quartets of the Academy show the results of their work in the unique ambience of the award-winning winery. Taste excellent wine and enjoy a wonderful evening of chamber music in the vaulted cellar of the Cantzheim winery.

“CLASSICS IN TAWERN” is on the program on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. Experience chamber music with grand piano in the parish church of St. Peter & Paul in Tawern. The excellent young master academics show the results of their intensive work in a musical evening with a program "from Mozart to Donovan".

Another academy concert will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. in the Galerie Contemporanea in Oberbillig. At a lofty height, in the middle of the sculpture park and with the best view of Luxembourg and the mouth of the Sauer into the Moselle, the Academy's musicians (piano and strings) demonstrate their outstanding musical qualities with a program ranging from the Second Viennese School to the present day.

Under the motto “Tradition and Modernity” is available on Sunday, 8 September 2024, at 5 p.m. in the city church of St. Nikolaus, Konz a Concert as part of the International Organ Concerts Konz: a guest performance by Stefan Butterbach (trumpet) and Prof. Karl Ludwig Kreutz (organ).

For the Festival closing at the Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. The Konz Music Festival invites you to a very special place: In the beautifully situated Rochus Chapel above Nittel, the academy's professors Elisabeth Perry, Isabelle Trüb, Richard Wolfe and Niall Brown will inspire your imagination this morning.
