Information on the provision of firewood

The forest districts are currently planning the upcoming felling of hardwood trees. In these wood harvesting measures, in addition to the trunk wood and the wood for industry, firewood is also cut for local needs.

The firewood is provided in the form of tree trunks that have already been delimbed in individual piles along the forest path.

Lots of land, i.e. the processing of existing firewood, are only offered in a few justified exceptional cases.

You can order the desired quantities of firewood from the forest districts Freudenburg-Trassem, Kell-Waldweiler, Konz-Wiltingen, Palzem, Schillingen and Zerf-Greimerath online on the website of the Saarburg Forestry Office ( https://www.wald-rlp.de/forstamt-saarburg ) and receive a confirmation to their email address. This procedure replaces the firewood order forms used previously.

The firewood from the Klink, Serrig and Saarburg-Tobiashaus forest districts as well as the wood from the forestry office's state forest is auctioned and therefore cannot be ordered online.

In principle, there is a limit to the purchase quantity of 10 FM per household. Each household must place its own order.

The order period begins on September 30, 2024 and ends on November 10, 2024. Orders received after this date cannot be considered. .

The dates for the auctions from spring 2025 will be announced in good time on the Forestry Office’s website and in the official gazettes .

We primarily offer hardwood (beech, oak, birch, but also red oak, cherry or other hardwood). In the state forest there is a price of

€73.00 per FM including 7% VAT (1 FM corresponds to 1.4 RM). In the community forest, prices may vary and will be announced by the respective community.

Firewood is usually provided next spring. However, if the weather does not allow wood harvesting or transporting wood in the forest, it can take until early summer to protect forest floors and stocks.

Firewood customers receive a message when their firewood is ready and an invoice with a map indicating the storage location.

As soon as the invoice has been paid, processing in the forest or removal can begin. The conditions to be observed are listed in the online ordering process and must be confirmed when ordering. What is particularly important is proof of expertise in using a chainsaw for processing in the forest. You can usually only burn the wood the following year when it has dried sufficiently.
