“Mr. Gerber wants to go home” - puppet and object theatre for adults with Companie Marram
Mr. Gerber is an old tough guy, blessed with great wit and edgy charm. Unfortunately, dementia has taken hold of him. That is why he lives in a retirement home, out of necessity but involuntarily.
And he has one big wish: he wants to go home!
He has a close and passionate bond with his daughter Hanne. But Hanne has to learn to find her way through the abrupt changes between wide-awake moments and phases of being lost in time and space.
Although there are only two of them, the two actors conjure up a colorful cast of characters: the pubescent grandson, bizarre residents of the home and nursing staff all appear. There is even plenty of laughter.
The result is a game that is both deadly sad and light as a feather.
