Starting signal for the new Konz AöR municipal utility company

The administrative board of the new Verbandsgemeindewerke Konz AöR met for its constituent meeting in January. The members were appointed by the association municipal council. The mayor of the VG, Joachim Weber, holds the chairmanship.

With the election of the previous head of VG-Werke, Ralf Zorn, to the board, the new “Public Law Institution” (AöR) can now advance further forward-looking projects as part of the energy and heat transition.

The Konz local council had already approved the new corporate form of VG-Werke last November. The advantage of an AöR is that high investments do not burden the budget of the municipality. In addition, decisions and processes can be simplified. This is important in order to be able to act and compete on the energy market. In addition, the changed corporate form improves the funding opportunities for municipal projects.

Nothing will change for customers apart from the new “AöR” suffix. Water supply and wastewater disposal continue as usual.
