“READING SUMMER Rhineland-Palatinate” in the Konz City Library

The sixteenth Rhineland-Palatinate Reading Summer starts on July 1, 2024. The Konz City Library will also be taking part again.
Children and young people aged between six and 16 can register now at the city library. Those who take part can borrow and read current children's and young people's books exclusively and free of charge.
Participants give their assessment of the books they have read either in the form of an "online book tip" at www.lesesommer.de or by means of an analogue book check. For each book read, there is a stamp on the club card and an assessment card. Each of the completed assessment cards is entered into the nationwide competition. The more you read, the higher your chances of winning. The main prize is a voucher for a two-day stay for four people at Europapark Rust with the Rulantica water world.
Anyone who reads at least three books during the summer holidays receives a certificate. Many schools also make a positive note of successful participation on a supplement to the next report card.
In addition, every member of the Konz City Library's reading summer club will win an attractive prize if they successfully participate (read at least three books). To do this, the club card must be handed in at the city library at the end of the reading summer (September 1st).
The reading summer is part of the statewide reading promotion campaign "Reading fun from the library" and is supported by the state with over 110,000 euros annually. Other sponsors for the campaign in the Konz city library are: the Elenz company, the Lions Club Saarburg, the Reh Foundation, the Sparkasse and Volksbank Trier as well as the "Future in Trier-Saarburg" foundation. With their financial support, more than 1,250 books were purchased for the reading summer.

Opening hours of the Konz City Library during the reading summer:
Monday: closed (special opening on July 1st, 3pm - 6pm)
Tuesday: 3pm - 7pm
Wednesday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Thursday: 3 – 6 p.m.
Friday: 10am – 12pm and 3pm – 6pm
1st Saturday of the month: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
