Young people from VG Konz awarded the commitment prize
This year, Prime Minister Malu Dreyer awarded the youth engagement competition prizes for the tenth time. “The 28 award-winning projects show in many ways how much young people can achieve with their creativity, courage and a little support,” said Prime Minister Malu Dreyer, praising the commitment of the award winners at a ceremony in the State Chancellery on March 1, 2024 The award-winning projects also include two project groups from Konz.
The Niedermennig youth group was able to convince the jury in the project: “Second Hand Second Chance – donate, share, celebrate in Niedermennig”. The youth group would like to organize a solidarity flea market in Konzer Tälchen, the proceeds of which will be donated to a non-profit organization. At the same time, the flea market is intended to be a local festival with food, drinks, live music and lots of play opportunities for young and old. The prices at the flea market should be chosen by the buyer depending on their financial possibilities. The project was awarded in the “Environment and Sustainability” category.
This was also awarded Youth forum of the Partnership for Democracy in the Konz municipality for her project “Konz gets loud”. Since 2018, the Youth Forum has been organizing the youth event “Konz wird laut” once a year, which addresses socio-political, youth-relevant topics and offers young people and experts space for encounters, discussions and exchanges. The focus is on the possibility of information and the exchange of positions and arguments. In order to involve other young people, we work with students from local schools. The main theme this year is “Europe”. The project received an award in the “Democracy” and “Participation/Social Participation” categories.
