Opening of the Municipal Gallery for Digital Painting in Konz
The city of Konz presents from Thursday, 20 June 2024, the new Municipal Gallery for Digital Painting (SGDM) in the rooms of the Konz City Library. It will be at 7 p.m. opened - with an exhibition of Peter Becker under the title “On the Moselle and Saar” (Please register for the vernissage by phone: 06501 7888). The gallery is the first such facility in Germany. It is dedicated exclusively to the presentation and promotion of digital painting.
What is digital painting?
Digital painting is a new, forward-looking way of painting using a computer with a monitor (or tablet), a digital input medium (“pen”), a graphics tablet and special software (e.g. Photoshop or Painter). Painting is done on the graphics tablet with a pressure-sensitive digital pen. Using the software, the properties of different paint brushes (e.g. dry or wet painting) and an unlimited number of colors can be assigned to the pen.
The digitally painted image is initially available as a digital file. It can either be presented on a monitor or printed by a printing provider in different versions and sizes (e.g. as a canvas print with a shadow gap frame).
On the exhibition “On the Moselle and Saar”
At the same time as the opening of the Municipal Gallery for Digital Painting, the vernissage of the exhibition of digital works by Peter Becker will take place on June 20, 2024 at 7 p.m. in the rooms of the Konz Municipal Library, Konstantinstrasse 50. Peter Becker was a professor of psychology at the University of Trier until his retirement. He has devoted himself to digital painting for 12 years. During this time he has shown his work in numerous exhibitions. He is a member of the Trier Cultural and Art Association (KUKT).
The exhibition includes 80 works, which are shown on a specially developed large monitor without reflections and with high color fidelity. In addition, some works are shown in printed form to give an insight into the different printing variants (e.g. canvas on stretcher frame, fine art print on aluminum dibond or on Forex).
The exhibition will take place from 20 June to 30 August 2024 in the rooms of the Konz City Library, Konstantinstr. 50, during its opening hours . Admission is free.
