"Mosel wine host": price goes to Nittel
Three companies from the district of Trier-Saarburg and the city of Trier are among the best wine hosts in the Moselle region. Minister of State Daniela Schmitt from the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Economics, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture presented the winners' certificates of the gastronomic wine competition "Weingastgeber Mosel" to the best companies.
The prize in the category "winery with gastronomy and hotel" was awarded by the jury to the sparkling wine barn/winery and guest house Zilliken in Nittel. The Zilliken family accepted the 1,500 euro prize from Peter and Jürgen Wirtz from the Wirtz company in Zell. In the laudatory speech, Norbert Müller, head of the DLR Mosel, praised the diverse and high-quality wine enjoyment experience in the champagne barn and the modern vinotheque of the company.

As in the previous year, first place in the "Gastronomy" category went to Trier. The Weinhaus Trier convinced the jury with its many years of commitment to the wines of the Moselle, Saar and Ruwer. In his laudation, juror Jens Schmitt from the Volksbank Trier paid tribute to the remarkable range of wines, which impresses with its enormous depth of vintage. Board member Michael Hoeck from the United Volksbank Raiffeisenbank presented the Büsching family with the prize of the region's Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken of EUR 1,500.
The Vinofactur of the Löwener Mühle winery in Igel is the winner in the category "Winery with winegrowers' gastronomy". Junior boss Stephanie Wittkowsky received the Moselwein e.V. prize worth 1,500 euros from the chairman of wine advertising, Henning Seibert. Managing director Simone Röhr from the Faszination Mosel regional initiative underscored the combination of hospitality and enjoyment in the modern rooms of the Vinofactur in her laudatory speech.
The competition has been organized by Moselweinwerbung, the Trier and Koblenz Chambers of Industry and Commerce and the Mosel Rural Area Service Center (DLR) since 2019.
