Democracy in Germany - Trips to Hambach Castle and Paulskirche
As part of the series of events "Democracy in Germany - from the beginnings to the present", the coordination and specialist office of the partnership for democracy in the Konz municipality offers various educational trips. The successful start was the educational trip to Mainz on June 21st.
On September 6th, the series of educational trips will be continued with the educational trip to Hambach Castle in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. Under the title "The Hambach Castle with Neustadt an der Weinstraße - on the trail of the 'Hambach Festival'" the revolutionary years around 1848 are examined. A visit to the site of the event is planned. Accordingly, the Hambach Castle should be visited under an expert guide. Afterwards there is the possibility to visit the permanent exhibition "Up, up to the castle" individually and to let the information have an effect in the castle park. After lunch we head to the second stage, to Neustadt an der Weinstraße. There, the participants can expect a guided tour of the city, which is shaped by what happened at the 'Hambach Festival'. A wine tasting and a little free time for individual design conclude the educational trip.
The end of the series is the trip to Frankfurt's Paulskirche on October 11th. The trip leads to Frankfurt am Main and focuses on the anniversary year of 175 years at Frankfurt's Paulskirche. Accordingly, the trip is entitled "175 years of Frankfurt's Paulskirche - Frankfurt in the light of the first German parliament". The city tour "The freedom movement of 1848 - on the traces of German democracy" is attended by an expert guide. A little free time rounds off the educational trip.
The series of events is organized by the coordination and specialist office of the Partnership for Democracy in the Konz municipality, funded by the Federal Ministry for Families, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth as part of the federal program "Live Democracy!".

"Live Schengen! Europe: yesterday - today - tomorrow" - Regional Democracy Conference on the ship "Klenge Prënz"
Who still remembers the controls and the long queues of vehicles at the border bridges to Luxembourg? Or because the people along the Moselle often had two currencies in their wallets, the Deutschmark and the Luxembourg Franc? And how many people moved to Luxembourg to work 30 years ago or how many Luxembourgers lived in Germany at the time?
Due to the location in the heart of Europe, the achievements of the European unification process have become normal and commonplace, especially for the people in the Moselle region, and usually only come back to consciousness when there are restrictions, such as border controls or even border closures in the context of the corona pandemic.
The regional partnerships for democracy invite you to find out about all of these developments and to share personal experiences and experiences related to the life (together) of people in the neighboring region along the Moselle Friday, September 15 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m to the third joint regional democracy conference. This takes place on the ship "Klenge Prënz" as part of a ship tour between Germany, Luxembourg and France. The outward and return journey to the ship in Remich is possible by bus from Konz (planned departure around 1 p.m., return arrival around 6:15 p.m.).
A speaker from the Center Européen in Schengen will accompany the tour and report on well-known and less well-known aspects of Europe growing together. Of course, there is also enough time to exchange personal experiences and experiences and to discuss the question of how things are in Europe today and in a few years' time.
Registration is required. This is only possible online. The participation fee is EUR 5 per person and must be paid in advance. If you have any questions, please contact us by email info@demokratie-leben-konz.de or by telephone on 06501 9698302. Further information and the link to online registration can be found at www.demokratie-leben-konz.de
