New barrier-free bus stop with turning point in Wiltingen
Wiltingen, September 01, 2023
The makeshift bus stop at Wiltinger Elementary School and Don Bosco School will soon be a thing of the past. A new, barrier-free stop with a turning area is being built. Work is expected to begin on September 18, 2023 and is expected to be completed this year.
The current situation on site is not up to date. It offers no assistance or comfort for people with disabilities when boarding and alighting. This will change with the construction of the new stop: Accessibility will then be guaranteed over a distance of 18 meters.
The measure will also make it possible for buses to turn in front of the elementary school in the future. Both the bus stop and the turning area will be built through space optimization so that the street is not narrowed and the number of parking spaces in the teacher parking lot remains the same.
The lighting will also be renewed. At times when there is less use, the light is dimmed using the new technology so that energy can be saved.
The measures are being carried out by the Trier-Saarburg district as the sponsor of the Don Bosco School and the Konz municipality as the sponsor of the Wiltingen primary school. The costs of around 350,000 euros are funded by the state. The project administration and financial processing is carried out by the building management of the Trier Saarburg district. The technical support is provided by the civil engineering department of the Konz municipality.
The administration of the association of municipalities cordially invites those who would like to find out more about the new bus stop with a turning area to an on-site appointment: on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. in front of the Wilting primary school.
