New VRT guest ticket in the VG Konz
The Verkehrsverbund Region Trier (VRT) has gained two new VRT guest ticket partners: Saar-Obermosel-Touristik and Hochwald-Ferienland. From July 1st, overnight guests of the participating companies can travel unlimitedly by bus and train throughout the network area.
"Our new VRT guest ticket offers tourists in the region and their hosts great added value," says Barbara Schwarz, Managing Director of the VRT, at the presentation of the two new partners on Wednesday, June 28th at the Konzer Saarterrassen. “Tourists are thus able to travel in an environmentally friendly manner throughout our network area, independently of their car. I invite all interested parties from other places to also become part of this future-oriented offer.”
With the VRT guest ticket, the Verkehrsverbund Region Trier (VRT) enables accommodation providers to offer their guests the use of buses and trains in the region with every overnight stay. Tourists can use the VRT guest ticket in the districts of Trier-Saarburg, Bernkastel-Wittlich, Vulkaneifel, Bitburg-Prüm and in the city of Trier.
As the first new partner, Saar-Obermosel-Touristik is now taking over the billing of the VRT guest tickets for the participating companies in the Konz association and the municipalities of the former Saarburg association as a so-called clearing point. The Hochwald-Ferienland becomes the clearing house for the hosts from the former municipality of Kell am See. Barbara Black,
Stefanie Koch, Managing Director of Saar-Obermosel-Touristik and Walburga Meyer, Managing Director of Hochwald-Ferienland, signed their respective framework agreements for VRT guest tickets in June 2023. After the Bernkastel-Kues holiday region, the two newcomers from the district of Trier-Saarburg are now further VRT partners when it comes to VRT guest tickets. Anyone who runs a guesthouse, holiday home or hotel in the VG Saarburg-Kell or the VG Konz and would like to take part can contact their responsible new guest ticket clearing office and offer their overnight guests sustainable mobility – starting July if they like offer in public transport.
Stefanie Koch, from the Saar-Obermosel-Touristik says: "We are pleased to be able to realize the guest ticket for the Saar-Obermosel holiday region together with the VRT and thus further enhance the tourism region".
Walburga Meyer from Hochwald-Ferienland, adds: "The guest ticket is an effective tool to promote the topic of sustainability in tourism and to sensitize companies and guests alike to sustainable action".
The two mayors of the Verbandsgemeinde, Joachim Weber (VG Konz) and Jürgen Dixius (VG Saarburg-Kell), are also happy about the introduction of the VRT GuestTickets and invite all hosts in their communities to approach their now responsible offices in order to participate directly.
Barbara Schwarz also calls on other associated municipalities and tourism associations as well as accommodation providers to become VRT guest ticket partners.
