LBM: Traffic impairments in Saarstrasse possible on Monday

On Monday, January 23, 2023, there may be disruption to traffic on Saarstrasse in Konz during the course of the day. The reason is preparations for the planned road and cycle path expansion in the southern part of Saarstraße. At around 9 a.m. the tree felling work required for the expansion begins.

The LBM is expected to start construction in the summer. According to the Federal Nature Conservation Act, trees can only be felled until the end of February.

The city council of Konz had already decided on the expansion plans last spring. In the current plan, fewer trees need to be felled than originally thought. The LBM wants to use so-called root bridges for the expansion of the cycle path, which lie over the roots of the trees and thus protect them.
