Konz: New parking spaces for commuters
Conc, 02/23/2023
At the end of last year, many unofficial parking spaces disappeared for commuters who travel by train from Konz in the direction of Luxembourg. The passenger car park at the Kreuz Konz train station can still be used, but many commuters had previously parked their cars in the Möbel Martin customer car park. However, this area can no longer be used around the clock. As a result, there was a shortage of parking space around the station at peak times. However, the city of Konz reacted quickly: in the past few weeks, new parking spaces have been created at two locations.

Around 20 new parking spaces were created along the fence on the gravel areas next to the substation on Alte Römerstraße. A turning area was created at the back of the street. The train station can be reached quickly from these car parks via a path at the turning point through the underpass in the direction of the passenger car park.
In addition, 10 new parking spaces were created in the area between Neustraße and Alte Straße (opposite the fire station). Access is via Alte Straße as a one-way street regulation.

“It is important to us that commuters can actually use local public transport and that environmental considerations are not dismissed due to a lack of parking space. That's why we acted quickly, but of course we are also looking for other areas that are suitable as parking spaces and are in talks in this regard," says Mayor Joachim Weber.
Here is an overview of the new locations as a map:
