E-bike tour around Konz also possible with a wheelchair

A small e-bike tour on the Saar in the region around Konz - with a short stop at the Karthaus monastery or at the Roscheid open-air museum. This is now also possible for disabled people in wheelchairs. Because the city of Konz, in cooperation with the Saar-Obermosel-Touristik and the Lebenshilfe in Konz, is making a new offer available: a wheelchair bike with an electric motor.

The e-bike is used by two people, with the wheelchair user sitting in front. This front part can also be uncoupled and used as a wheelchair for getting around, for example during a rest or sightseeing. A suitable barrier-free circular route has been available at Karthaus Monastery since last year. And some areas in the Roscheider Hof are also accessible for wheelchair users.

"With the new offer, we are taking the idea of inclusion a step further," emphasizes Mayor Joachim Weber. And Stefanie Koch from Saar-Obermosel Touristik adds: "Everyone can enjoy a bike tour and experience the landscape from a different perspective."

The wheelchair bike can be rented free of charge from Lebenshilfe Trier-Saarburg e.V. in Konz. Contact: 06501-92 740 or info@lebenshilfe-trier-saarburg.de. Opening hours: Monday to Friday: 9am to 12pm, Monday to Thursday: 1pm to 4pm. Bookings are not possible on weekends and public holidays.

Each passenger must wear their own bicycle helmet, return is on the same day. The bike can be rented with a valid identity card or passport and a deposit of 150 euros.
