Pre-marketing for free fiber optic connections in Wawern will start in early 2023

Good news for all residents in the local community of Wawern. Together with the local community, Westconnect GmbH is planning the expansion of a nationwide fiber optic network for fast internet. So far, sustainable fiber optic house connections are only available in individual streets such as “Am Hochwald”, “Am Sportplatz”, “Weinbergstraße” and “Saarburger Straße” in Wawern. Westconnect would now like to extend this FTTH network (“Fiber to the Home”) to the entire location. For this she leads from January 1 to March 31, 2023 pre-marketing. With a sufficiently high demand of 40 percent, the expansion of the fiber optic network should begin in the same year.
"The future fiber optic connections are so powerful that working and learning at home, video conferences, surfing and streaming are possible at the same time - stable and reliable," says Mayor Karl-Peter Binz. A very important point here: The connections do not come by themselves. Westconnect needs the consent of the respective owners. This is the only way fiber optic cables can be laid on private property. Christian Nathem, municipal manager at Westenergie in the Trier region, adds: "Interested people who take the opportunity until the end of the pre-marketing will benefit from a free fiber optic connection." After that, this connection would cost around 1,250 euros.

Westconnect GmbH is responsible for expanding the broadband network in cities and communities. Customers in the expansion area are addressed and suitable broadband products are sold as a service under the “E.ON Highspeed” brand by E.ON Energie Deutschland.
