Third MoselCleanUp - Karthaus is back!
The MoselCleanUp will take place for the third time on September 10th. Translated into German, CleanUp means something like “cleaning up”. And unfortunately there is a lot to clean up in nature and along the Moselle. Whether it's flotsam or rubbish thrown away carelessly - along the river banks there is a lot that doesn't belong there. As part of the first two CleanUps in 2020 and 2021, almost 1000 kg of rubbish was collected on the banks of the Moselle alone.
In order to clean up the river banks as part of a joint and high-profile campaign, a few years ago committed people launched the RhineCleanUp. This cross-national campaign, which has meanwhile been extended to many tributaries of the Rhine, is becoming more and more popular every year. The initiators of the MoselCleanUp have again this year invited committed people from communities bordering the Moselle in Germany, Luxembourg and France and from various environmental organizations to take part in the campaign. The MoselCleanUp in Konz is embedded in a large European campaign, because CleanUps on the Rhine, Mosel, Ruhr, Main, Neckar and Nahe are running parallel on September 10th.
Karthaus is also involved in the CleanUp. The organization was again taken over by the Karthaus district office, since Karthaus borders directly on the Moselle and many Karthauser use and appreciate the Moselle and the banks as a leisure and recreation area.
The city of Konz supports the campaign by providing working materials (eg garbage bags and garbage tongs) and by taking away the garbage.
