215,000 euros for the village square in the municipality of Nittel
Interior Minister Michael Ebling has announced that the Nittel municipality will receive a subsidy of EUR 215,000 from the Rhineland-Palatinate village renewal program. The redesign of the village square in the district of Köllig is funded.
“As part of a village moderation, the local community has dealt in detail with the possibilities of developing and upgrading the district. The upgrading of the existing village square was seen as a priority. With the subsidy from the village renewal program, the square can be multifunctionally redesigned for a variety of events and purposes. A new meeting place is being created for the citizens, which invites them to celebrate or linger," said Interior Minister Michael Ebling.
Village renewal takes particular account of the challenges of demographic change. Each funding euro triggers up to six euros in follow-up investments. The investments benefit families, create jobs close to home and ensure the future viability of the villages. The regional handicraft, commercial and service companies in particular also benefit from this.
"Rhineland-Palatinate's village renewal has a total of around 22 million euros available for the funding of municipal and private projects in the town centers in the funding year 2022," said Minister Ebling.
Village renewal focuses primarily on projects in the town centers that give impetus to revitalize the town center or to keep it as the center of village life. This includes the renovation and new use of the building fabric as well as securing basic services.
