Friederike Kempner - Jewish landowner's daughter from Silesia, reviled and much scolded, fought by great authors of her time, swept under the table by publishers and despised, she, the wonderful Friederike, she who - nobody knows how - achieved a mega edition of her volumes of poetry, the the literary connoisseur is still secretly hiding in the bedside table to this day: She, the master of involuntary comedy - the "Silesian Swan", the "Nightingale in the Inkwell", the Heinz Erhardt of the 19th century or - one might say: The Foster - Jenkins of literature , delights the reader to this day, cheers up the spirits - yes, it is more topical than ever.
She didn't find it funny at all that people laughed at her because she was serious about everything she wrote. And she was right, not least in her humanity and her criticism of the lack of it.
Friederike Kempner's ravishing self-confidence disarms everyone, even if they go down to the basement to laugh. Or on an evening like tonight when she rises for us.
Her greatest adversary - Alfred Kerr, famous theater critic and journalist, who was quite obviously ashamed of her, nephew or not, was originally called -Alfred Kempner - and had himself renamed. Why? Because none other than Berthold Brecht tried to destroy the great Kerr because of his relatives. Ha - If that's not a reason to pursue this enmity. The Kempner evening takes place on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. in the ballroom of the Konz-Karthaus monastery instead of.
