Help for Ukrainian refugees in Poland - the city and municipality of Konz support the Polish twin town of Puck
Conc, April 25, 2022
More than two million refugees from Ukraine are now registered in Poland - a situation that poses major challenges for the cities and communities there.
Mayor Joachim Weber therefore offered help to the Polish twin town of Puck. An offer that the mayor of Puck, Hanna Pruchniewska, gratefully accepted. Donations were needed, especially for beds, duvets and pillows.
The main and finance committees of the city and associated municipality of Konz therefore decided to provide financial support. 7,500 euros from Konz were then able to help the twin town of Puck to accommodate refugees. The members of the political committees were unanimous: this money should only be a first step. "We are still in contact with our partner municipality and can react if further help is needed," says Mayor Joachim Weber.

In a video conference, the mayor of Puck thanked the city and municipality of Konz for the financial support. Puck is dependent on such donations because there is hardly any financial help from the Polish government, said Hanna Pruchniewska. Many refugees in Puck are accommodated in hotels, which are now to be opened up for tourists. This is now a new challenge for Konzer's sister city in Poland.
