Regional Democracy Conference
"After the crisis is before the crisis - is our democracy competitive in times of crisis?"
At the Thursday, November 4th will take place at 6 p.m the first regional democracy conference entitled "After the crisis is before the crisis - is our democracy competitive in times of crisis?" instead of. Together with Katja Gloger, journalist and co-author of the book "Outbreak - Inside Views of a Pandemic", we will discuss the question of whether our democracy is competitive in times of crisis as part of an online lecture.
A virus has dominated our lives for a year and a half. Every day we learn from the news how the pandemic is developing in different countries. In the meantime, dealing with the pandemic mutated into a global systems competition between democracies, autocracies and dictatorships. Can democratic constitutional states keep up in times of global crisis? Were authoritarian regimes more efficient and faster in combating them? Have we learned from the experience of dealing with the pandemic for future crises? We want to shed light on these questions as part of the Democracy Conference. Katja Gloger was a long-time »Stern« correspondent in Russia and the USA. Together with her husband Georg Mascolo she wrote the book "Outbreak - Inside Views of a Pandemic" in 2021.
The Democracy Conference will take place digitally. Participation is possible without prior registration via the Zoom format. The event will be broadcast on the open channel in Trier and on YouTube (link will follow at www.demokratie-leben-konz.de).
