Konz-Karthaus: New building, new work of art

Artist designed the exterior of the extension to the elementary school

The new connecting building at the St. Johann elementary school in Konz-Karthaus is not only finished. From the outside, it now also shows itself in many bright colors. The artist Leo Hammes was commissioned by the city to design the outer facade in a child-friendly way – including lots of balloons. He orientated himself on the topic "Multicultural cooperation - tolerance and respect".

The work of art connects three parts of the building in the area towards the schoolyard and, through the depiction of water waves, also refers to the second project at the elementary school: behind the group of buildings, the monastery stream is currently being renatured.
